Bellingcat
Bellingcat uses the vast amount of information available on the Internet to expose wrongdoing and combat disinformation. We do this with a worldwide group of researchers and citizen journalists. For example, we found those involved in the downing of flight MH17 and investigated Russia's role in the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. But we investigate much more: from the illegal wildlife trade to refugee rights violations at the European border; from corruption and fraud to war and violence.
The vast array of public sources on the Internet has forever changed the way we gather information. By making use of this, and teaching others how to do the same themselves, we want to use a global movement to expose more and more abuses. We conduct research, provide training and share knowledge about our methods. We also develop standards for collecting digital evidence. We use the Internet to our advantage: to collaborate, to find and verify information, and to share our findings with the world. This is how we expose abuses and fight for justice.
